Urgent Requirement for Director Investment at Mercer (Gurugram)

 

📍 Role Overview

• Location: Gurugram (hybrid, ~3 days/week in-office) 

• Business Area: Mercer Investments—global investment consulting and fiduciary management 

• Primary Function: Lead the Manager Research team, covering investment strategy, manager due diligence, and research support for Delegated Solutions

🔍 Key Responsibilities

1. Manager Research Leadership

   • Oversee and guide traditional and alternative asset class due diligence

   • Produce fund commentaries, research notes, and contribute to manager-selection decisions 

2. Team & Project Management

   • Manage end-to-end project delivery and capacity planning

   • Supervise report prep for both clients and senior management

   • Mentor and upskill the research team, ensuring compliance with firm protocols 

3. Operational Due Diligence (ODD)

   • In conjunction with global teams, assess operational risks in manager middle/back-office functions across asset classes (e.g., custody, fund admin, compliance)

   • Write pre-visit notes, conduct virtual/on-site visits, and draft follow-up reports 

4. Process Enhancement & Intellectual Capital

   • Lead initiative to refine ODD frameworks and research methodologies

   • Contribute to Mercer Sentinel tools/products and maintain the research database 

5. Client & Stakeholder Interaction

   • Liaise with investment managers for data collection and coordination of due diligence activities

   • Support business development efforts and client communication

🎓 Required Experience & Qualifications

• Experience: 12–15+ years in global markets; strong exposure to multi-asset and alternative investments 

• Education: Bachelor's (Engineering/Finance preferred); MBA or master’s in finance advantageous 

• Certifications: CFA charter preferred 

• Skills: Robust research and analytical capability; strong communication, stakeholder management, and people leadership
